In the early 2000s, a group of friends go hiking. A few days later, looking over their photos of the trip, they see something unexpected: a woman, dressed in all red, in the background. Was she there before? Two friends look on with curiosity; the third, 小雪, starts to feel sick. Who is this woman in red? Why did she appear in their photo? These questions drive them across space and time, unraveling the past, discovering a shocking truth.
A story of cruel inhumanity and what ultimately ties us together, “The Woman in Red” is Abby Tân’s most gripping work to date.

The Woman in Red is a short book about a group of friends that encounter a mystery on a hike. It turned out to be a fun ghost story with a great atmosphere. The dialogue is really engaging and it touches on some interesting themes from Taiwanese history. The vocabulary and sentence structure was great for an intermediate level (TOCFL B1). Overall, it is a great read for anyone looking for a fun and engaging read.
